REP. ROBERTS ANNOUNCES STATEWIDE TAX-FREE HOLIDAY |
State Representative Jay Roberts (R-Ocilla) encourages the people in Georgia to take advantage of savings by purchasing essential items during Georgia’s Sales Tax Free Holiday. It begins on Thursday, July 30th and runs thru Sunday, August 2nd. During the 2009 Session, Rep. Roberts, along with members of the General Assembly passed HB 120 and this Bill provides a sales tax exemption from both state and local taxes on certain items. We realize that families in Georgia could use some form of relief, especially with items that are necessary such as clothing, school supplies, and computers. This is the eighth year Georgia has participated in the tax free holiday period and we want to encourage everyone to take advantage of the tax-free holiday.
Examples of tax-exempt items include: Clothing and footwear priced at $100 or less, school supplies less than $20 per item, books $20 or less, and personal computers and accessories priced under $1,500. For a full list of what items are included and the restrictions for the sales-tax holiday, please visit the Department of Revenue’s website online at www.dor.ga.gov . Rep. Roberts represents Irwin and Telfair counties, in addition to portions of Ben Hill, Jeff Davis, Tift, and Wheeler Counties in the Georgia General Assembly.
